Since April 2017, the location childcare Prins Vleermuis Campus has been located in Wageningen. Kinderopvang Prins Vleermuis Campus provides care for children aged 0 to 4 years. We have two baby groups, one toddler group and two pre-schooler groups.
In our baby groups we follow the child’s own rhythm as much as possible. When the children grow older and move to the toddler group and pre-schooler group, there is a fixed and familiar daily rhythm. The days are predictable and this provides peace and space for further development.
We find it important to provide a stimulating environment where children feel safe and can develop optimally. We therefore work with themes that connect to the children’s experiences with activities that match the children’s developmental level.
Our pedagogical professionals themselves are the creative pivot in devising and carrying out the activities which means that they are always involved in the children’s development and that our themes fit seamlessly with the developmental needs of the child.
Through play, children learn about the world around them. Play is not only fun but also stimulates all areas of development. We follow the children in their play and enrich it with activities that match the children’s experience.
Communication is very important to us. We therefore work with Thomas Gordon’s Gordon method. By actively listening, the pedagogical professionals try to put the child’s feelings and experiences into words, through which a child will notice that the pedagogical employee tries to understand the child and takes him or her seriously.
Because our daycare is located in the middle of the Campus grounds, children from all over the world play with us. Our daycare is therefore a society in miniature where we learn about multiple cultures and customs. Of course, children from all over Wageningen are welcome to join us!
Our mission is that children will eventually develop themselves into social, independent people with self-confidence and a sense of responsibility. So that children can grow into people who know and can use their own talents.
To achieve this, we give every space for the individuality of each child. We create a homely environment in which children feel safe and secure. The approach is focused on building on what a child can already do and what the child likes. We always choose a positive approach to the child, so that the child’s self-confidence can grow.
From an early age, the young child likes to be surrounded by other children. By interacting with other children, they learn to develop themselves and develop their own āIā. In addition, it is nice for parents to spar with our pedagogical professionals and, if desired, with each other. Social contacts grow and together we enlarge the world of the happy child.
Learning healthy habits is easier than unlearning something unhealthy later. This is why we play a major role in food education from an early age. Our nursery offers responsible and healthy food and sets an example for parents. Our nutrition policy has been developed in collaboration with the parent committee.
Most children at the nursery are still sleeping for a (large) part of the day. Therefore, it is important that the children have a safe and familiar sleeping environment where they can relax. Our baby groups both have their own bedroom. We also have a crib in sight on the groups for the little ones. The toddler group also has two private bedrooms. From the pre-schooler group onwards, the children sleep on a stretcher in the group.
