What does a day at the nursery look like?

What does a day at the nursery look like? The daily routine below is based on the rhythm of the toddler group and toddler groups. In the baby groups, each baby has his or her own rhythm and we follow the rhythm of home.

7.30 – 9.30

From 7.30 our pedagogical professionals are ready to welcome the children and their parent(s). All children are greeted by name. A chat is held with the parents about how the child is doing. Did the child sleep and eat well? Are there any peculiarities? We say goodbye to the parent(s) together and then go play in the group where there are already toys or an activity ready.

9.30 – 10.15

At 9.30 we start the day together in the circle. We sing songs and welcome everyone. Then we eat fruit together and drink a glass of water. We also often read a book and look at the daily routine cards with the children. This way the children know what a day will look like. After the fruit moment, the children go to the toilet or get a clean diaper. The children who are still sleeping go to bed now.

10.15 – 11.30

During this time we try to go outside with the children as much as possible. We ask parents to dress appropriately for the weather so that we can play outside in almost any weather. Sometimes a group of children stay inside to do an activity, they then go outside later.

11.30 – 13.00

At 11.30 we sit down with the children to eat a sandwich. They are then given a glass of milk or water with it. The children learn from the toddler group to spread their own bread. We also sing a song at lunch. After eating, the children get a washcloth to clean their face and then the children go to the toilet or get a clean diaper. Some of the children now go to sleep.

13.00 – 15.30

During this time most of the children are asleep and the pedagogical professionals take turns to take a break. The children who are awake do a quiet activity. They read a book in one of our cozy reading nooks or color at the table. The children who wake up are quietly changed until everyone is ready to go to the table around 3:30 pm.
